Intercom, from the conversation.

Ask about the customer, read the thread, draft the reply. Cedric proposes the message in Intercom and waits for your yes.

  • Intercom is where customers write in, and the first question is always who this is and what happened before.
  • Ask in plain words: a contact by email or name, their profile and company, and the conversation history with who handled each one.
  • Cedric drafts the reply, leaves an internal note for a teammate, or starts a new outbound message to a customer.
  • Conversations can be assigned to a teammate or team, snoozed, closed or reopened, and tagged along with contacts and companies.
  • Anything sent to a real customer waits for your yes, and Intercom's per-minute request limits apply.

What can an Intercom AI agent do?

The first thing a support conversation needs is context. An Intercom AI agent supplies it from the thread. Cedric searches and looks up contacts by email, name or other attributes and reads their profile, including the company they belong to and the other people linked to it. It reads the conversation history for a customer, with the messages, the internal notes and who handled each one, so the reply starts from what was already said.

Then it acts on the conversation. Cedric drafts a reply, leaves an internal note for a teammate, or starts a new outbound message to a customer. It assigns the conversation to a teammate or a team, snoozes it, closes it or reopens it, and applies or removes tags on conversations, contacts and companies, managing the tag list itself when a new one is needed. It lists teammates, teams and audience segments so work is routed to the right place. Every message to a customer is proposed first, which is what makes an operations assistant safe in a customer-facing inbox.

The records and the help center stay current the same way. Cedric creates and updates contacts and companies, custom attributes included, and creates, updates and publishes help-center articles or browses the existing collections to find the one to link. What it cannot reach: workspace billing and account settings are outside the connection, and Intercom's per-minute request limits apply as they would to any integration.

The returning customer

Who they are, what was said last time, and the reply.

Aisha Rahman9:14 AM

@Cedric who at Halden Group is writing about the SSO error, what did we tell them last time, and reply that the fix ships Thursday.

CedricAPP9:15 AM

The contact is Jonas Aalto, admin at Halden Group (Scale plan, 3 people linked to the company). One earlier conversation, 19 August, handled by Sam: the same SSO error, closed after a workaround. Draft reply: acknowledge the recurrence, say the permanent fix ships Thursday 10 September, and offer the workaround again until then. Proposed alongside: tag the conversation sso-fix and assign it to Sam.

Looked up

A contact by email, name or attribute, their company and linked people, and every conversation with who handled it.

Answered

A reply, an internal note or a new outbound message: drafted first, sent on your yes.

Routed

Assigned to a teammate or team, snoozed, closed or reopened, tagged, with the contact and company records kept current.

Connect Intercom in a minute

No setup project, no workflow builder, no field mapping. The flow is the same for every tool Cedric connects to.

  1. 01

Install Cedric where your team talks

One click. It joins your Slack like any other member, and everyone shares the same Cedric.

  2. 02

    Connect Intercom from the dashboard

Open the Integrations page and sign in with Intercom on its own screen. Cedric never sees or stores your password, and you can revoke the connection in one click at any time.

A fresh connection can look but not touch: read-only until you say otherwise.

  3. 03

    Ask in plain words

Back in the channel, try it: "what open conversations are unassigned right now?". You describe the outcome; Cedric picks the Intercom actions the ask needs. There is nothing to configure.

Connect for the whole workspace so the team shares it, or keep the connection personal. Two accounts are fine too; each gets a short name.

  4. 04

    Let it become routine

Schedule the recurring version of the ask, and let Cedric fold Intercom into bigger jobs that cross your other tools. Anything that would leave your workspace still comes back as a preview to approve first.

Better in company

The customer in Intercom is also a deal in HubSpot and a subscription in Stripe. Cedric reads all three in one ask, so the reply knows the plan, the renewal date and the last invoice before it is drafted.

A bug that surfaces in a conversation can become an issue in Linear with the conversation linked, and the fix note can land in Notion for the rest of the team, each step on your yes.

Where the limits are

Intercom is a catalog connection, not a built-in playbook. Cedric works from what the Intercom connection can read and do; ask in plain words and it says what it can reach there, and what it cannot.

Messages reach real customers. A reply or a new outbound message is public-facing, so Cedric proposes the text and asks every time before it sends.

Some of Intercom stays out of reach. The API enforces per-minute request limits and does not cover workspace billing or account settings, so Cedric cannot read or change either.

Cedric sees what the Intercom connection grants and nothing more. Access is scoped, logged, and revocable from the dashboard, effective immediately.

Nothing sends itself. An email, a post, a change to a record: anything with consequences comes back as a preview for a human yes. That is the design, not a beta caveat.

FAQ

Yes. Intercom is one of the 3,200+ apps in Cedric's catalog: connect it once from the dashboard, on Intercom's own sign-in screen, and ask in plain words. There is no built-in playbook for it, so Cedric works from what the connection can read and do, and tells you when something is out of reach.

No. Your inbox rules and workflows keep running. Cedric works from the conversation on top of them: it reads, drafts, routes and tags the way a teammate with the same permissions would, and asks before any message goes to a customer.

Yes. It creates, updates and publishes help-center articles and browses the existing collections, so an answer written once in a reply can become the article the next customer finds. Publishing is proposed before it happens.

Connect it for the whole workspace and everyone shares it, with one person authorising once. A connection you would rather not share, a personal inbox for instance, can stay personal to you.

Yes, and it starts that way: a fresh connection can look but not touch until you say otherwise. Even with write access granted, anything that changes or sends waits for an approval.
